My Story

I am Geraldine Ahern, an Irish breathwork facilitator, teacher, retreat holder and founder of Rebirthing Breathwork Ireland.

I have been immersed in the healing world for over eighteen years, and for the past nine years my work has been deeply rooted in Rebirthing Breathwork.

Over those years, my path has moved through body-based healing, energy work, grief work, somatic practice, breathwork, ancestral inquiry, family constellations, keening, voice and land-based ritual.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple invitation:

to come back into relationship with yourself and your life.

My Rebirthing Breathwork path began through close 1:1 apprenticeship with a rebirther who was trained over thirty-five years ago by Leonard Orr. This intimate lineage shaped the foundation of my breathwork practice and teaching, while my own lived experience, Irish roots, and years of holding space gradually revealed the need for something more grounded, embodied and connected to this land.

This is how Rebirthing Breathwork Ireland was born.

I created Rebirthing Breathwork Ireland as a Celtic-informed somatic breathwork school — a rooted training pathway for people who feel called to this work in a way that honours breath, body, nervous system, grief, voice, ancestry, land and life.

Alongside the school, my personal work through geraldineahern.ie holds the deeper thresholds of my work: grief, lineage, body memory, keening, silence, darkness, death, rebirth and belonging.

I am a mother. I am autistic and ADHD. I have moved through grief, illness, near-death experience, survival, rupture, rebuilding, and the long road of learning how to come back into relationship with my own body and life.

These experiences are not separate from my work. They are part of the ground I hold from.

They have taught me that healing is not about performance. It is not about becoming more spiritual, forcing release, or chasing intensity. It is not about endlessly searching for what is wrong.

For me, this work is about honesty.

It is about presence.

It is about responsibility.

It is about learning to stay with life.

It is about listening to the body and the breath without force.

It is about meeting what has been carried - personally, ancestrally and collectively - with steadiness and care.

The spaces I hold are quiet, grounded, deep and human.

I work slowly and relationally, with reverence for the nervous system, the body, the breath, the land and the intelligence already moving within each person.

My work invites people to stop abandoning themselves. To listen beneath the surface.

To honour what has been carried.

To return to the body.

To reclaim the voice.

To remember belonging.

And to meet life with more presence, truth and capacity.

My hope is not to heal anyone.
My hope is to create spaces where people can come home to themselves. Spaces where grief is welcomed.

Where voice is trusted.
Where the body is listened to.
And where what has been carried alone can finally be held in community.
If you feel called to this work, you are welcome here.

Held with Integrity

The work I offer is born from lived experience, deep listening, and a profound reverence for the human journey. Alongside this, I believe in continually deepening my understanding through professional study, ethical practice, and ongoing learning.

I am honoured to hold professional accreditation and membership with the following organisations, whose standards reflect my commitment to offering this work with both compassion and integrity.

A Lifelong Commitment to this Work

Grief is one of life's greatest teachers. To accompany another through loss is a privilege that asks for both an open heart and a steady foundation.

In 2026, I was awarded a Professional Diploma in Bereavement, Loss & Grief from the Institute for Counselling & Psychotherapy Studies (ICPS), graduating with Distinction.

While no qualification can replace the wisdom gained through presence, compassion, and lived experience, this training has deepened my understanding of the psychological, emotional, and ethical dimensions of grief. It strengthened my ability to hold space with greater awareness, sensitivity, and care.

For me, this diploma is far more than a certificate. It is a reflection of my devotion to honouring those who entrust me with their stories and of my commitment to walking alongside them with integrity, humility, and respect.
